Storm & Gorman Spring Program

We’re thrilled to announce the return of our Storm and Bishop Gorman Spring Programs, now with an additional week and more training options! This program is designed to prepare players for tryouts while introducing them to the Storm and Bishop Gorman Coaching Staff through a combination of skill development, competition games, off ice training, and video analysis. 

Program Dates: April 6 – May 16, 2026

The Bishop Gorman Spring Program is your competitive advantage heading into the 2026-27 season. Over six intensive weeks, players train under the same championship coaching staff that develops Bishop Gorman’s high school hockey athletes—combining elite on-ice development, collegiate-level strength training, and professional video analysis to elevate every aspect of your game. 

This is high-level preparation for competitive travel and high school hockey players


The Las Vegas Storm Spring Program is designed to develop young hockey players through focused skill training, competitive play, and professional coaching. Over six weeks, players work with experienced Storm travel coaches to build the technical foundation, hockey sense, and confidence needed to succeed at the travel hockey level. 

This program is for committed players looking to elevate their skills and compete at a higher level.

Weekly Training Format

Two on-ice sessions. Two workouts. One goal: Prepare you to compete at the travel and high school level.

On-Ice Session 1: Battle Development (60 minutes)

Small-Area Competition

The first skate of each week is dedicated to high-intensity battle situations where skills are tested under pressure. This session is designed to replicate the speed, physicality, and decision-making demands of travel and high school competition. 

Through small-area games and competitive scenarios, players develop: 

  • Puck battle mentality â€“ Win 50/50 pucks and protect what’s yours 
  • Compete through contact â€“ Make plays while being pressured physically 
  • High-tempo decision-making â€“ Execute under fatigue and defensive pressure 
  • Offensive creativity â€“ Find solutions in tight spaces against live defenders 
  • Relentless motor â€“ Outwork opponents shift after shift 

On-Ice Session 2: Technical Foundations (60 minutes)

Advanced Skating Development(30 minutes)

  • Edge control â€“ Own your edges in all directions 
  • Explosive transitions â€“ Change direction without losing speed 
  • First-step acceleration â€“ Beat defenders to loose pucks 
  • Stride efficiency â€“ Generate more power with less effort 

Body Contact Instruction(30 minutes)

  • Safe & effective checking techniques â€“ Finish checks properly and legally 
  • Angling & positioning â€“ Use your body to eliminate time and space 
  • Receiving contact with balance â€“ Stay on your feet through traffic 
  • Game-situation contact â€“ Apply physicality in live scenarios 

Off-Ice Training: Collegiate-Level Athletic Development (2 sessions per week)

Led by Michael Cosgrove, former NFL player and Head of Strength and Conditioning at Bishop Gorman, inside the school’s state-of-the-art Athletic Training Center—the same facility that prepares championship high school athletes. 

Athletes will learn and develop: 

  • Hockey-specific strength and power â€“ Build the foundation for explosive skating 
  • Speed and first-step quickness â€“ Get to pucks first 
  • Movement quality and mobility â€“ Prevent injuries and maximize performance 
  • Conditioning for high-tempo play â€“ Compete hard in the third period 

“Pro Habits” Video Series with Joe Trotta

Learn to See the Game Like a Professional

Each week, players receive a video lesson from Joe Trotta, a professional Video Coach with over 30 years of experience, including winning a Stanley Cup with the 2007 Anaheim Ducks

These sessions are designed to: 

  • Elevate Hockey IQ â€“ Understand positional play and decision-making at the highest level 
  • Recognize Pro-Level Habits â€“ Learn what separates professionals from everyone else 
  • Build Pattern Recognition â€“ See plays develop before they happen 
  • Apply Learning to Your Game â€“ Turn film study into on-ice execution 

Goalie-Specific Training (All Age Groups)

Goalies receive specialized development tailored to the unique demands of the position:

Goalies integrate with their assigned age groups for Small-Area Games, competing in live game situations against players. 

On-Ice Session 2: Goalie Development

Goalie-specific training at LVIC gym or turf area, focusing on:

  • Goalie-specific movement patterns â€“ Butterfly mechanics, lateral pushes, recovery speed 
  • Hand-eye coordination drills â€“ Reaction time and tracking development 
  • Core strength and stability â€“ Foundation for explosive movements

Led by Las Vegas Storm travel coaching staff, every session builds the technical skills, hockey IQ, and competitive confidence that creates successful travel hockey players. 

On-Ice Session 1: Game Development (60 minutes)

Small-Area Games and Competition

The first skate each week is dedicated to small-area games that develop creativity, decision-making, and competitive spirit in a fun, fast-paced environment. 

Through competitive small-area games, players develop: 

  • Puck creativity â€“ Try new moves and find solutions under pressure 
  • Quick decision-making â€“ Read the play and react with speed 
  • Competitive mindset â€“ Learn to battle for pucks and compete with intensity 
  • Game situations â€“ Apply skills in realistic game scenarios 
  • High puck touches â€“ Get maximum repetitions in every shift 

On-Ice Session 2: Technical Skill Development (60 minutes)

  • Puck handling â€“ Control the puck with confidence in all situations 
  • Passing technique â€“ Make crisp, accurate passes under pressure 
  • Shooting mechanics â€“ Develop proper technique for all shot types 
  • Small-area skill stations â€“ Master skills through repetition and variety 

Off-Ice Skill Development (1 session per week)

Led by “Tiki” Tikhonov, 3rd Generation Professional Ice Hockey Coach, these sessions focus on building hockey-specific skills and athleticism off the ice. 

Players work on: 

  • Stick handling development â€“ Improve hands and puck control 
  • Stride mechanics training â€“ Build proper skating movement patterns 
  • Endurance and conditioning â€“ Develop the fitness to compete hard 
  • Weekly challenges and competitions â€“ Stay engaged and motivated through fun competition
